I don’t belong to an organized party, I’m a Democrat~
This election was lost four and five and six years ago not this year. They didn’t start thinking of the old common fellow till just as they started out on the election tour. The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover was an engineer. He knew that water trickled down. Put it uphill and let it go and it will reach the dryest little spot. But he didn’t know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow’s hands. They saved the big banks but the little ones went up the flue.

Senate Democrts, who don’t have the votes to block anything, are trying to block everything as they react to the cries of their protesting supporters, thus doing their best to destroy what little credibility they have with public outside their bubble.
Perhaps the most sane Democrat in the Senate is Joe Manchin, former governor of WVA. My Senator and former governor Mark Warner (D-VA) who represents a divided state is a close second.
Voting against every cabinet pick and a moderate conservative nominee for the Supreme Court will accomplish nothing. They don’t have the votes.
The first few years of Mr. Trump’s reign will be much like that of Mr. Obama when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed wrecked what remained of collegialty following 9-11, and rammed policies both wanted and unwanted down constituent throats.
Whether mid-terms change a thing for Mr. Trump, as they did for Mr. Obama when he lost Congressional support remains to be seen. At present Mr Trump is in the catbird seat so better grin and bear it and stop beating up Chuck Schumer.
Democrats must pick their fights not fight everything at once.
David and I have spent time listening to the Senate hearings and I like the sound of some of the cabinet selections like the new Secretaries of Defense and State as well as Homeland Defense. Now, I just want Trump to use his security team, sans Bannon, to make informed decisions.

Above: Sweetpea in her baths and preening her tail.
We had a bit of a fright yesterday as one of my parrots, Sweetpea, took a shine to Kathy, and, as she and Brother Dunstan were leaving flew out the door.
Sweetpea flew high into a shrub, out of reach and called to me as she chattered with a couple of Chickadees who flew in to see what was happening. After a while we lured her down. “I was praying to Our Lady,” said Brother Dunstan. “I was praying to Saint Francis,” said Kathy.
Sweetie then flew to Dunstan and sat in the hood of his robe as we carried her into the house.
Good to have God on your side in these matters.

My Mother spent decades with the League of Women Voters and was State Judicial Director for years also. I wish she was still alive and she could tell me how she got along with people she disagreed with on fundamentals because this election has changed everything for me. I have learned things about people that have shocked me and they probably feel the same way about me. And I only see it getting worse. Heartbreaking.

My Mom was a member of the League of Women voters also. She worked in RFK’s campaign. Yes folks are at each other’s throats now. The disagreements were always there, however since Trump’s rude victory, all has been exposed.
Presently, I want Democrats to stay focused and don’t go to extremes…it won’t help. Our domestic programs are at risk. Pick your fights, I say.

I think that Chuck Schumer will keep everyone in line and I agree pick a fight, but I am afraid for conservation and other issues…sigh….I wonder what my political parents would have to say..both gone now..

Environment is number one for me also. Without it nothing else matters. My charity donations include lobbyists, Environment Virginia and Audubon, among others. My Senators, Kaine and Mark Warner, know who I am because I donted to their campaigns. I also donate to the DSCC. I write letters and complain a lot.
At present,I want them to focus on the clowns nominated for EPA and Health and Human Services, and forget Gorsuch. He might be a Conservative, but I don’t think he is a radical like Bannon.
If they blocked James Watt’s actions with legal manuevers when he was Secretary under Reagan, they can do it again. We just need more Democrat members in Congress. Even if they become Secretaries, lawsuits will follow.

I love Parakeets. Sweet pea is my smallest parrot. She is much like a parakeet.

Monkey see, monkey do. The GOP obstructed everything Obama tried to do. Now the Dems can’t imagine doing anything but following suit. Doesn’t bode well for anyone. What ever happend to common ground, cooperation, and putting country ahead of party?

Makes sense to me. Unfortunately, all their supporters have a different idea of what that means. 🙂

Glad Sweetpea decided to return without more complication. I’ve only heard portions of Senate Hearings for a few of the nominees so will withhold comment until after they act on a few matters. Appreciate your observational reactions.

I left out Ambassador Nikki Haley. Love her standing up to Russia. Recall the riots when Nixon was elected. McGovern never had a chance. Mainstream hates domestic violence. Not smart politics. Didn’t work in 1848 in France either.
