Posted to Nature Notes from my iPad.
The title of this post doesn’t refer to me, or my body, which is not new, but to the reawakening of life around me. These days, I can sit in my garden and watch the plants emerge from the ground. While I have thoughts of “getting out and doing something new” I also think Why?
Why rush off somewhere when I can sit here and enjoy the beauty. Why indeed. And if I need a bit of exercise, I can walk up the block and look at my neighbors’ yards, one filled with tulips, another with emerging perennials. Last week it was Corner Kathy’s Camilla, this week, it’s Cathy F’s flowering Crabapple and Mel’s tulips. Next week it will be Sue’s dogwood. The Tulip Magnolias with their big floppy pink petals have come and gone, but the two-toned flowering Crabapple is beautiful. In fact, I think it’s the most beautiful of the spring-flowering trees. You can read more about them here:

those blooms are beautiful… hoping my crabapple trees look this good when they grow up… they’re nothing but switches right now, lol… so sorry to hear about your anemia. it’s difficult to get over that. my number was a 6 when it was supposed to be a 12 or higher. doing better now though. i ended up taking an iron transfusion twice so that my blood would stay up. it’s been good ever since… wishing you the same outcome. have a great day~

When did it go up to four score years and ten? Must be all this newfangled longevity and pushing up the retirement age to the old life expectancy of three score years and ten. Contrary to all expectation, I have outlived it and am heading to my four score but refusing to give up just yet.
If you lack iron, eat red meat and you will also get enough salt without taking extra which only causes water retention. Here speaks one on no salt and restricted fluids but keeps braking the rules and surviving anyway.

Three score and ten is Biblical. Four score and seven years was Lincoln’s clever way of linking the talk at Gettysburg to the Bible…what politicians in the South have always done (and the north too until more recently). At the time he gave the Gettysburg address in 1863, the Declaration of Independence was 87 years old.

Lovely blooms! I wish I had some to sit and watch, nothing blooming here yet.
I often think if there were less tests and specialist, doctors would be able to diagnose things more readily. My GP came up with my expected diagnosis with one examination, but it had to put through the specialists paces and a gazillion test for them to confirm it.

Beautiful shots of the new blossoms. I know how frustrating it can be to have a zillion tests and still not be sure of answers. I hope you get some relief soon.

Gregg’s Dad is 93 and he has more energy than the two of us put together. He had a heart operation, a pacemaker and broke his thigh bone a couple of years ago, but he’s still riding his lawn mower around a very large yard. It’s those Norwegian genes I think. I am loving all the flowers.

Gregg’s dad sounds a lot like David, although we detest riding mowers or any gasoline powered mower for that matter. David mows the small lawn with a push mower.

Yes, you can do this. I came back from the cruise feeling 150% better than when I left. Even with my heat problems, I feel vastly better. I think it was all the walking on my new hip. 🙂 No more knee pain.

Stick with it, youngster. There’s still a lot of history for you to read, write about, and experience. And as you know, gardening projects last forever.

I am waiting until age 70 to start SS for the same reason — an incentive to stay alive until I at least break even on the bet. I like your appreciation of spring. As long as you DON’T think April is the cruelest month, then you’re still glad to be alive!

My dad is 76 now and has been depressed because he’s been to the doctor so often in the last two years, and he still cannot feel better. So aggravating.
The dogwood is my favorite tree bloom. It’s nice that you can walk around your neighborhood and see so many pretty flowers.

Gosh, he’s older than me. I love Dogwoods too, and they bloom with the crabapple trees.

I do believe that the doctors look at your insurance coverage, and if you are well covered with policies that pay well, they send you off for round after round of testing. And, with enough testing, they will find something. The reason I don’t go to the dr.

I don’t dare not go. They have saved my life several times.

You’re too funny. Well, at least you have a sense of humor, which is a God-given talent, you know. I believe that the bottom line is How do you feel? If the answer is Okay, then why bother with needless tests? Just take each day as it comes and enjoy yourself. I have moles on my back that won’t be biopsied or looked at for precisely that reason. I’ll keep going until I drop dead.

I believe some call my jokes gallows humor. I have cancerous spots too, but see a Dermatologist annually or more often. After three skin cancer scares, I am careful.

We have lost time to make up for so keep on keeping on. I remember years ago you used to get a false positive on another test.

Yes, that’s me one false positive after another. Unfortunately I married one or two of them.
