Arthritic canine hip

Although my dog Max had a similar problem, no, I am not the canine pictured right. I am in the midst of scheduling pre-op appointments for hip replacement surgery for Dianne. It looks as if I will have the surgery in about two weeks. Doc M. says I have exhausted all conservative efforts to deal with the pain, and I agree. I have reached the point where pain at night is unbearable.

Much to do. Will visit more and write again later this week.

  1. I have to tell you that you will love sleeping through the night. 🙂
If you can, please do one thing I didn’t do. Ask your surgeon which rehab places he prefers, call them to see which will take your insurance, and go check them out now. I ended up in one my doc didn”t approve of because it was the nearest to the house and was covered by my insurance. The rehab was good tho.

They do have new anesthesia’s. Tell your doc about your problems with them. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well I felt afterwards.

  2. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you, Dianne. I’m seeing my tai-chi buddy with her new hip and marvel at the moves she’s now able to make. It took concentrated work at re-hab, but it’s so wonderful to see her feeling so much better. I’m counting on that for you too. I’ll look forward to hearing how it went.

  3. Oh wow, do hope the surgery takes care of the pain, and BTW if you need anything I’m only a short distance away. Chauffeuring, going to the grocery, you name it I am volunteering to help out 😉
